USE OF ADVERBS

Important points to be remember to getting the meaning of following adverbs while using...

1)Too and Very
'Too' is used to saying more than desirable/required/reasonable.
Ex. You working too hard, it's not good for your health.
        She is too clever, I can't manage to her.

'Very' is used  to saying a great intent/level.
Ex.The story is very interesting, so I decided to listen to it.
     He works very hard, she can get job.

2)Late and Lately
'Late' is used to saying happening after the right/fixed/appointed time. Ex.The train arrived late.
      Not only did he turn up late, he also forgot his books.

'Lately' is used to saying recently/latest.
Ex. They have bought a car lately.
       

3)Uses of Quite/Pretty/Fairly/Rather
All these mean 'more than a little' but not 'very'. 
Note: Articles 'a' and 'an' used after 'quite' and 'rather'  but not before them.
Ex. Quite an interesting story.
       There was quite a lot of trafic today.

        He's a pretty attractive but not what I'd call gorgeous.

 'Rather' used to saying with unpleasant ideas. 
Ex. Rather cold.
       Rather a difficult exam.
       Rather a noisy traffic.

4)Uses of Hard and Hardly
'Hard' using to say 'a lot of strength (physical or mental)'.
Ex. She works hard.(work with a lot of effort).
'Hardly' mean almost no or not.
Ex. I have hardly any friends.(no friends).
5)Uses of Ago and Before
Both these adverb indicates past.
'Ago' is used with the past simple tense only(V2).
Ex. We met him ten days ago.

'Before' is used with perfect tenses(V3).
Ex. It has never happened to me before.
      She said that she hadn't seen me before.
